Canada Mortgage and Housing Corporation have programs available for First Nations individuals living on-reserve, who are in need of major home repairs or modifications to improve accessibility and safety. Individuals must be within or below an established income range. A First Nations person is also able to apply on behalf of a home occupant who meets the criteria. The program will fund up to $60,000 for needed accessibility modifications and if the reserve is in a northern or remote community, this amount could be increased by 25%. CMHC also offers programs for on-reserve housing that does not meet minimum health and safety standards.
